New aviation policy needed
Letter to Irish Independent 31Oct 06

There is an urgent need for a National Aviation Policy to make decentralisation a reality.

Shannon, having the longest runway in the country, has the capacity to provide the much talked about hub for North American passengers wishing to travel to Europe and for Far East passengers wishing to get Custom Clearance to enter the U.S.

I support the Green Party's suggestion of a highspeed line from Dublin to Shannon. Also, the excellent rail to Belfast could provide links between Dublin and Belfast Airports.

Expanding Dublin Airport is the worst possible option.
