On the
Development of the Additional Runway at Dublin Airport

Portmarnock is
· An area with the highest percentage of family homes in Ireland
· An amenity area with recreational and tourism potential
· A beach and dunes amenity not just for Fingal but for Dublin and its surrounds
· A breeding centre and retreat for birds and wildlife
· A temporary home to migrating geese
· A growing centre of employment linked directly to tourism and amenity use

Growth is affecting Portmarnock through
· Increasing housing development
· Increasing traffic particularly at weekends
· Increasing air traffic as Dublin Airport has grown substantially over the years and continues to grow even in the absence of a fourth runway
· Flooding caused by inland developments particularly the Airport and associated developments
· Water and beach pollution through the release of liquid waste from the Airport environs

The Portmarnock Community recognises
· The continuing contribution of Dublin airport to the economic growth of Dublin and Ireland
· The levels of employment afforded to the people of Fingal through the Airport and its associated services

An additional runway with its associated traffic is unnecessary and
· Will substantially increase the noise pollution in the south Fingal area particularly in the Swords to Baldoyle area
· Will interfere with the local schools because of the noise distraction
· Will increase the air pollution in the surrounding areas
· Will interfere with and damage existing wildlife habitats
· Will soak infra-structural funding from Fingal Council as it struggles to cope with ever-growing traffic to and from the airport

The Portmarnock Community
· Supports UPROAR
· Objects to the fourth runway proposal
· Believes a cap should be placed on the growth of Dublin Airport
· Believes aircraft should adhere to designated flight paths
· Believes regional and economic development in Ireland is best supported by the development of a new or regional airport
